You're Not in the EU. The Act May Still Apply to You.
Here's the sentence that surprises American teams: the EU AI Act can apply to you even if you've never set foot in Europe.
The trigger isn't where your company sits. It's where the AI's output gets used. If you're a provider or deployer outside the EU and your system's output is used inside the EU, the Act reaches you.
Think of it like food safety rules. It doesn't matter where the kitchen is. If you're serving the dish in Paris, Paris rules apply.
This is why small teams building software in Reno or anywhere else still need to know this law. If your product has European users, you're in scope. Geography stopped being a shield a long time ago, and AI made sure of it.
