High-Risk AI Comes With Homework
People hear "high-risk AI" and flinch. But the label isn't the punishment. The homework is the point.
If your AI system is high-risk under the EU AI Act, you owe a risk management process, careful data governance, technical documentation, automatic record-keeping, clear information for users, human oversight, and proof that the system is accurate and robust. Before it goes live, it goes through a conformity assessment, which is basically a structured check that you've done all of this.
Read that list again. Every item is something a careful team would do anyway. Manage risks. Mind your data. Write things down. Keep a human in charge. Test that it works.
The Act doesn't ask for anything exotic. It asks for the discipline that serious work has always required, now applied to AI.
